How Geofiled works
From threshold warning to ready-to-file document. In one step.
Every other tool stops at the count. Geofiled goes further: it watches the rules, catches the trigger, and drafts the filing you need to stay compliant.
01 — Detect
Geofiled watches your movement across every jurisdiction
Log a trip, connect a calendar, or paste an itinerary. Geofiled maps your days against each country's residency rules in real time — the 183-day rule, Schengen 90/180, hacienda thresholds, and more.
02 — Warn
Threshold warnings fire before you cross the line
Amber alerts appear when a threshold is within reach. You see exactly how many days remain, which rule applies, and what crossing it means for your tax position — weeks before it becomes a problem.
03 — Draft (the step no competitor has)
The required government filing, generated automatically
The moment a threshold is reached, Geofiled drafts the actual form or notification your situation requires. IRS Form 8840, Closer Connection exception, NHR application support, Schengen exit notification — populated with your data, ready to review and file.
04 — Done
Your compliance audit trail, automatically maintained
Every trip, threshold event, and filed document is recorded to your Travel Timeline. If you ever face a residency inquiry, your proof of compliance is already organized and ready.

Questions
The questions digital nomads actually ask.
Does Geofiled cover my specific countries?
Geofiled tracks the jurisdictions most used by location-independent workers — including the US substantial presence test, the Schengen 90/180 rule, Portugal, Spain, Mexico, Thailand, Germany, and others. The rule library is updated as legislation changes, so you're not chasing updates yourself.
What happens when a threshold is actually triggered?
Geofiled generates the required government filing or notification for your situation — pre-populated with your travel data. For the US, that's typically IRS Form 8840 (Closer Connection Exception) if you have a clear tax home elsewhere. You review, confirm the details are correct, and download the PDF ready to file.
Is this a replacement for my accountant?
For the tracking and compliance document generation that Geofiled automates, yes — you no longer need to pay an international tax specialist to count your days or fill out a form from your travel log. For complex situations (dual residency disputes, treaty questions, tax optimization strategy), a specialist still makes sense. Geofiled handles the mechanical work so you can bring sharper questions to those conversations.
How does Geofiled know where I've been?
You log trips directly in Geofiled — country, arrival date, departure date. You can enter trips manually, paste an itinerary, or connect a travel calendar. Geofiled does not require location tracking, phone GPS, or any background monitoring.
What if I'm already close to a threshold when I sign up?
Enter your travel history for the current year and relevant lookback periods when you set up your account. Geofiled calculates your current position immediately, so if you're already at 150 days in a 183-day jurisdiction, you'll see a critical alert from day one.
Tax residency caught.
Filings drafted.
Done.
The 183-day rule does not wait for you to figure out the paperwork. Geofiled does not either.
